Kaya Hansen is a 25 year old cinematographer from northern Germany, who likes to tell unconventional stories through music and movement. She started with music videos inspired by her favourite books, and moved on to creating original short films that have been screened at over 20 film festivals. Creating atmosphere and capturing emotions, that's what filmmaking is all about for her. She has been completely self-taught and spent the last year at the European Film College in Denmark.

About Me
I began making videos in 2020, starting with cosplay music videos inspired by my favorite books. My sister and I spent all our free time running through forests and meadows, trying to capture the essence of the fictional worlds we loved. Her in front of the camera, and me behind it. Back then, I barely knew how to use my old Canon EOS 700D, so every video became a lesson in filmmaking. I had never taken a film class before—everything I knew came from hands-on experience and experimentation.
Sharing our work online, we gradually built a small community—a space where I eventually met many of my closest friends, including my girlfriend. In 2023, my sister and I created our first original short film, SHE, which was honored with screenings at a dozen film festivals. That was the moment filmmaking became more than just a hobby for me.
In the summer of 2024, I started a one-year program at the European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark, immersing myself in different aspects of film production, with a special focus on sound design. Now I'm back in Germany, working on several independent projects, especially focused on cultural institutions.
